(At the moment, our video presentations are only in French, unfortunately.)
As the fourth film in the series of ten films that we are presenting to you this summer, Anastasia chose her kino Director's Cut, shot as part of the Kino Kabaret of the Rendez-Vous du Cinéma Québécois in 2007.
Director's Cut includes some images shot on film by our friends Geneviève Perron and Christian Laurence in an old hotel in Wisconsin. If I'm not mistaken, the film was developed in the hotel bathtub where our friends were staying, hence the well-aged and scratched texture of these excerpts!
Marie-Andrée, who plays the director, is a friend I met in film school at Concordia. Back then, we spent entire nights editing our first year student films that absolutely had to be done on film, on a Steinbeck editing table (as you see in the film). Back then, it was still believed that video was never going to replace film in the film industry. Things have changed a lot since then.
