FAQ
"Zeitgeist" is a German word that combines the words "zeit" (time) and "geist" (mind, soul).
The Larousse and Kölemann German-French dictionary translates the word zeitgeist as "spirit of the age".
But what is the spirit of our century? What does that mean for us today? That's what we want to explore with you through this participatory film project.
Participatory cinema doesn't exist yet! We're inventing it with you. :)
We want to get closer to you, our audience, our friends, our fans, because we believe that this will allow us to break down the barriers in our creative process and inject a strong dose of humanity, diverse, rich and true.
You'll see there are a thousand ways to participate in the adventure. It starts with choosing one of the subscription plans to unlock the content. (The "I'm Curious" plan is free.) But then, we're counting on all of you to help us overcome the many obstacles that come with film production!
We'll need your help to brainstorm ideas, share personal anecdotes, urban legends, relevant current events, and more. We'd like your input on scripts currently being written and potential filming locations. We'll also need your contacts and knowledge when we visit parts of the country you know better than we do.
But rest assured, your participation is flexible, depending on your desires, availability, and specific interests. Make the project your own. Tell us what excites and inspires you! We believe you'll gain something enriching and useful from this adventure, but it's up to you to tell us.
Ultimately, participatory cinema is first and foremost a conversation and an exchange with the goal of creating films. And it is your participation that will allow us to make the films of the Zeitgeist.
The funds raised on the site are used primarily to pay for site hosting fees as well as subscriptions to other online services such as Vimeo and Celtx.
They are also used to purchase the filming equipment needed to produce the research and production content that we share with you via the blog and YouTube channel.
If the support becomes more substantial, the money will be used to cover our research and development costs for the films themselves (travel, salaries, and fees). It could also be used to finance certain filming and post-production equipment that will be useful for the production of the films.
We will keep you informed of the details of how the funds are used as the project progresses.

We want to share a direct connection to you, our audience, our friends, our fans, because we believe that this will allow us to decompartmentalize our creative process and inject a strong dose of humanity — diverse, rich and true — into it.

But don't worry, you decide how much you want to participate. You can stay invisible and just follow along if that is your wish. You will still get to experience teh adventure. Make the project your own.
